Guest Author FAQ

Q. Do you accept guest authors?
Yes. We give chosen contributors a thirty day run as a Guest Author. We decided on the 30 day run in order to bring in other guests on a regular basis and to try to keep things interesting. It doesn't mean that we would never ask someone to be a Guest Author again after the 30 days were up.
Q. What if I start as a Guest Author and I hate it?
If at any time during the 30 days, for whatever reason, you feel like not continuing as a Guest Author, then that's fine - just let us know. Likewise, we also reserve the right, for whatever reason, to end the relationship as well. This all sounds more ominous than it needs to be, but you get the idea.
Q. What kinds of articles do you publish?
Content should be generally related to Indy, but book, restaurant, music, film, and game reviews are cool. If it fits in our basic categories, it's probably fine. Politics and religion are fine as long as they are locally oriented and with an objective, unbiased slant. Since these two things tend to cause the most conflict, we try to keep our own level of "fair and balanced."
No stories about the origin of the term "Hoosier." Just kidding.
Q. How much would I have to write?
More than us! Actually, we don't have any sort of imposed quota of posts per day or what have you.
Q. Can I swear in an article for IndyScribe?
Hell yes, damn it! Justifiable profanity is fine. We tend to censor ourselves sometimes, but we're not going to worry about a few curse words here or there. I think it's ok to say that the site has a PG to PG-13 rating for adult situations, language, and subjects. Or something like that. Our web host frowns on nudity though.
Q. Do I get my own bio page?
Guest Authors must supply a short bio with portrait photo. Steph made all of us do it, so everyone has to. Your bio page will include a list of the articles you've written.
Q. Once I'm accepted, how do I submit articles?
The log in set up for you would allow you to post content and also edit your own content once it has been posted.
