And other photos of our "Great State Fair."

Area Man (he looks like a guy that would be in an actual Onion photo!) Don't get it? It's a joke about headlines like this or this.

Mullet

The obligatory Elephant ear

Mmmm

More food!

I am distracted by shiny objects

4-H Projects are a key fair component

Just in front of the ferris wheel, you can see the "Titanic slide-o-death." Fun for the whole family.

Giant Pumpkin day at the fair
Carving the giant pumpkin

We followed signs to the "World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake" thinking it was a giant cake. Alas, it was a marketing ploy.

Mullet

Mullet. Identities blurred to protect the innocent.

Hemp promotion booth in the Exposition Hall. Dude.

Obligatory animal photos

Llama

Soy biodiesel would be a great alternative to that expensive gas.

We did not eat any of these things.
But we did eat these spirally potato chip thingies.

I'm guessing these girls never eat anything deep fried.

Moooooo!

Mullets heading off into the sunset at the end of the day.

OMG! Let's make an amusement park ride based on the horrible deaths of a thousand plus people! What's next? The 9/11 Freefall? The Sri Lanka Shaker? The Indonesia Tidal Splash?
Wow.

I do have some better pictures of the titanic ride from my 2003 visit to the Fair. I commented there about how morbid I thought it was...

Funny pics...reminds me of the mullet saying, "business in the front- party in the back..."
I went to the fair last Thurs. and find the low attendance articles hard to believe...it was beyond crowded. I don't know if it had to do with all of the Clay Aiken fans there ("claymates") or not.
A new first at the SFair was stopping by the Indiana State Police booth and seeing Meth awareness pamphlets and magnets with phone numbers to report suspected Meth labs... Weird...
