Michael's Great House Hunt: Is This The End?

By Michael Packer

Well probably. I'm getting ready to close on a house in about 7 days. No, it's not the retro-cool 1950s Frank Lloyd Wright home of the "future" like I have been dreaming of, but it has a lot of potential. One day that 1950s home will be mine, I swear!

I wish that the closing process had given me some sort of fodder for bizarre business practices and horror stories of Indiana laws, but try as I might - I have nothing to report that is remotely on topic. All I can say is... stay tuned.

I'm sure the whole process has been stressful for Mike, but for those of us who went through it before, it was really fun to follow along with. It's always fun to tell peopltuff you wish you knew when you were in the home-buying mode yourself.

Citizens Gas can bite me.

Arranged to an appointment - 12-4pm - to let the gas man in to establish service. Arrived at 11:45am. Gas man had already been there and left a note.

Called Citizens Gas at noon (after finding a working pay phone). Their dispatch said that a service person had NOT been to the address. So they might come back.

Right.

No one showed up and the call center hours ended at 4pm. An hour after I was able to make it to another phone. Now - with the holiday, I need to wait until TUESDAY to try to convince Citizens Gas to keep their appointment properly and be there when they say they'll be there.
